However Crooked Genius is a new documentary film, currently in the very early planning stages. At a high-level, the film is about utopias and architecture. Beyond that, I have ideas, but am still in the research phase. To catalog thoughts so that I can return to them later, I’m making a list in this blog. While this is a public exercise, I’m hoping that lightly preparing these research sources allows them to sink in a little deeper than if I just kept them in my private notes. We’ll see.

Excavation looks at the weathered walls of Florence, Bologna, and small towns in Tuscany to examine the idea of time travel through architecture. It’s a little expensive for what it is, but copies are available here.

Resting somewhere between documentary, tone poem, and podcast, the film Wild Human discusses how wilderness has been replaced by representations of nature and the wild.
Throughout the film, much of the music is presented as live, improvised solo performances, filmed in areas that blur nature and city. Below is an unedited take from Patrick Breiner, performing an improvised piece on clarinet.
